Happy Father’s Day Artiste Shirt & Tie Card

This weekend we will be honoring our Fathers!

Father's Day Card

You still have time to make this card before Sunday thanks to the Artiste Cricut cartridge. The card, tie and pocket are on page 75 of the handbook. I cut my card at 4.25” tall and it fits in a standard A2 envelope.

Image

Here’s what the card base looks like when you cut it out. It is a top-fold card, so you are looking at the front of the card with the card back above it upside down.

Father's Day Card - piece

To assemble, the first thing you will do is fold the base in half on the horizontal score line. You will notice two slits at the top of the card separating the collar from the shirt. Fold these down at an angle on the score lines.

Use a little adhesive to secure collar.  The stamping on the pocket is from D1560 Holiday Tags. I absolutely love this stamp set because it covers pretty much every holiday and has the great frames that can be cut using the Artiste cartridge.

***Important note: Both this stamp set and the Artiste cartridge will retire on July 31***

A nice finishing detail is the stitching which was drawn with a journaling pen. The tie and knot was cut from retired paper pack Timberline.

Happy Father’s Day!

Nevermore “Halloween Fright” Layout — kit coming soon!

When the crypt doors creak and tombstones quake

Spooks come out for a screaming wake

Happy haunts materialize and begin to vocalize

Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize

If you recognized those words, you may be almost as big of a Disney fan as I am. It’s the first verse of the theme song on the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. This ride has a magical mix of fun and scary I was trying to capture in my new Nevermore scrapbook workshop.

Here’s a sneak peek of the first of three layouts that will be in the this Halloween kit.

The spooky scene in this layout is made up of images from the Artiste Cricut Cartridge cut from the papers from the Nevermore collection. Details were added using pieces from the coordinating Complements pack.

I had a lot of fun designing this exclusive kit and will be sharing the remaining layouts as well as how to order soon. Stay tuned for the rest of the spooky details of this kit!

Full of floral beauty, the September stamp of the month is perfect for both cards and scrapbook layouts.Paper Gardenincludes silhouette flower images that look like they were cut made from scraps of paper – maybe old newspaper print or love letters. Two of the flowers and one leaf can be cut on the Cricut (Artiste cartridge) which gives you fun layering options.

To inspire you, let’s look at some artwork made with this stamp set. If you don’t have a copy of the Holiday Expressions Idea Book, you may have missed this beautiful layout created by the Close To My Heart artists.

1509-sotm-page (1)

For this family layout,, the artist took advantage of the images on the set that coordinate with the Artiste Cricut Cartridge (outlined in red above). The raised flowers and leaves look like they are fancy cut, but they were simply made use of the Cricut then stamped.

The word “Love” and the letters for “this moment” are also from the Artiste cartridge. I love all the dimension when these cut outs were layered on top of the flowers stamped on the base page. Beautiful!

Merry Christmas!

Hello friends! May you have a safe, relaxing holiday filled with love from family and friends.

Here’s quick and simple card for you:

Artiste Pop Up Merry Christmas card: Ruby, White & Topiary cardstock, Gold Dot Washi Tape,
Gold Glitter Paper, Gold Bling Gems

This card was made with the new Artiste Cricut cartridge. To make the card, I first cut the base out of Ruby cardstock, then the inside liner out of white. I love how the sentiment looks so crisp and clean as the white shows through the cut out.

The inside is where this card really shines, or I should say “pops”! I cut the liner twice — once in white and once in Topiary green. Then I trimmed the green liner down to only include the tree branches and attached them to the white liner. I then added some Ruby circles I made with a hole punch with the left over paper from the base.

The tree was screaming for a glitter star, so I cut one out of our gold glitter paper. Then I finished the card off with some hand cut banners, Wsahi tape and gold bling gems.

Merry Christmas,

Rebecca

#30yearsofhappy – Day 22

Today, I bring you the 22nd project in our #30yearsofhappy challenge. Each day this month, I’ve shown you a project using one of the stamps on the #30yearsofhappy stamp set. My friends Ellen and Julia worked with me to bring you a project with each of the stamps.

Click HERE if you missed any of our earlier projects.

This special stamp set, #30yearsofhappy, was designed to celebrate our founder and CEO Jeanette Lynton’s 30th anniversary in the scrapbooking and stamping industry. To get this stamp set free, simply place an order on my Close To My Heart website which includes $30 in current retail-priced stamps.

Are you up for a challenge? You are invited to join us! Scroll to the bottom of this post for an invitation to post a link to your project using the #30yearsofhappy stamp set.

For You Nugget Purse

This cute little bag holds a sweet surprise: a Dark Chocolate Nugget with Almonds. Putting together the purse gave me a chance to try out the new score board. It passed! One trick I’d pass on is that if you are making single score marks to use the score groove on the edge. Make sure score line is lined up with the grove on the top and bottom edge.

Once all of the score lines have been made, wrap the sizes around and clip them together with the Nugget inside.

Then bring the front and back up. I fastened them together at the top with a glue dot.

My supply list: Chalk It Up paper, Teal shimmer trim, Neutral Metalic Baker’s Twine and Artiste Cricut Cartridge.

Be sure to check back tomorrow, when Ellen at www.cardmonkeysjungle.com will share another project made using this fun stamp set.

Want to get your hands on one of this sets? Here’s how: Go to my CTMH website and pick out several stamp sets you love with total retail of $30 or more. This will be easy because there are so many great new sets to pick from! When you view your shopping cart, you will be prompted to add #30yearsofhappy for FREE!

In the meantime, keep creating!

Babycakes Mini Album Kit

I have a brand new kit in my Show Me Scrapping store! I am so excited about this project for three reasons: 1) It is super easy (thanks to the Cricut), 2) It is super cute and 3) It is super affordable!

This cute mini-album makes a perfect gift for a new Mom or Grandma. They will enjoy adding pictures to document their precious bundle of joy.

In this kit you will get all this for just $15:

  • Set of 6 chipboard pages
  • 12 pieces of pre-cut cardstock to cover the pages
  • Lots of coordinating die-cuts
  • Badge button for the cover
  • Rings
  • Fabric strips to tie on the rings

The only thing you need to complete it is adhesives and a little time. The pages are approximately 4″ square and the finished album is just under an inch thick.

(The kit comes with one each of “Baby Boy” and “Baby Girl” die-cuts)

Order a kit >>>

Interested in making a similar kit but with a different theme? You can!

The set of six chipboard pages are available on my website (Z1791) or as part of the Artiste Cricut Collection. Cut your selected paper to fit the pages exactly using the “Family” key on the Artiste cartridge (p. 60 of the handbook). Cut two of each page to cover both sides.

From there it is up to you. Add die cuts, stamping, stickers or what ever your heart desires to dress up your mini-album.

What a fun way to document the moments of your life!

Keep Creating,

Rebecca

Holidays From The Heart – Santa Gift Box

Welcome to the Holidays From The Heart blog hop!  I’m so excited to see what everyone made with the new products in the 2013 Close To My Heart Gift Guide! These items go on sale today!

This mini-catalog comes with a great new deal: When you spend $100 you get one of the starred items from the Gift Guide FREE!

Ever since the Artiste Cricut cartridge was released, I have been wanting to make this box found on page 55 of the handbook.

I’m not sure if there is a name for this type of box, but I’m calling it the “All-in-one” box because the lid is connected to the box.

Fortunately, the cartridge comes with an assembly instruction book. After a few trials and errors, I got it figured out.

Once assembled, lifting the lid opens the box so it can be filled with Christmas goodies. Isn’t that the coolest thing ever?

Supplies:

Sparkle & Shine Paper Pack (X7176B)

Santa Claus Stamp Set (C1567)

Slate & Juniper Ink Pads

Artiste Cricut cartridge

Artbooking Cricut cartridge

A Chocolate Affair

Welcome to our August Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!  This month’s stamp from Close
to My Heart is “A Chocolate Affair” and is available exclusively
through your Close to My Heart consultant from August 1 – 30, 2013.  This
month, you can receive this stamp set for FREEwith a qualifying
purchase of $50.

If
you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at
Lucy’s blog– Love 2 Create.
  If you came from
Darla’s blog, Caution: Crafting is Contagious, then you are in the right place!

You can count on a company who created paper and ink colors of Cocoa and Chocolate to come up with a stamp set as sweet as this. Way to go Close To My Heart!

So on to my project…

I know some of you received free My Creations Milk Cartons during the June special. Although these are no longer available for purchase, I bet there are several of you out there looking for a cute crafty way to decorate them. I thought putting “Who Needs Milk?” on a milk carton filled with chocolate candy would be a fun play on words.

If you do not have any of the pre-made cartons, you can cut your own using the Artiste Cricut Cartridge (p. 46 of the handbook).

For this project, I first cut a piece of 3″ x 12″ Cocoa cardstock and scalloped the bottom edge with a corner rounder. It would have been quicker (and neater) if I had the new Scallop Border Punch, but I made due with what I have. Next, I scored the paper ever 3″ so that it would wrap around the carton neatly. I adhered the band of paper to the carton with Tombow tape.

Next I tied Dark Chocolate Striped Grosgrain Ribbonaround the carton. I stamped a few pieces of chocolate on white paper with Chocolate ink and cut them out. To make them shiny and dimensional, I covered them with a layer of Liquid Glass. Then I arranged them with some foam tape on the carton.

I cut a label from Cocoa ink on the Cricut and stamped the sentiment with White Daisy pigment ink.

The finishing touch is the “sweet” clothes pin from the Mini-Medley Accent Wooden Collection. This stamp set is so much fun and full of possibilities! The picture below shows some additional projects you can make. Click herefor a supply list and helpful hints.
