Hoot! Hoot! Hooray for these Beautiful Papers!

Today I want to give you a little introduction to the March collection of the month, Life’s a Hoot!

Whether crafting scrapbook pages, cards, décor, or anything else, the Life’s a Hoot product collection will infuse your projects with playful designs and lovely color combinations! Coordinating papers, stamps, die-cuts, and more take the guesswork out of the creative process!

Let’s start with the building blocks of this collection — the papers! These papers are packed with amazing background designs. In fact, even though this suite of products features adorable owls, this theme does not appear on any of the patterned papers which makes them perfect to use for a wide variety of projects.

You can get these beautiful papers with our without the coordinating sticker sheet. There is also a pack of solid cardstock that will match perfectly. This sticker sheet includes titles, borders, images and other designs with shiny gold foil accents to add extra pizazz to whatever you are making.

If you’d like more patterns, titles and journaling spots, the Picture My Life cards are perfect for adding the theme throughout your projects. I love using them both on my pages, in pockets and on cards!

This pack includes 24 cards — 12 each 4″ x 6″ and 3″ x 4″. The double-sided cards feature unique designs, sentiments, journaling space and icons. Typically one side has the design in landscape and the other in portrait, sometimes in different colors in the collection’s palette.

Now let’s take a look at the stamp sets. There are two in this collection with the first is geared primarily for card makers and the second for scrapbookers.

One of the things I hear from scrapbookers often is that they have trouble finding stamps that with the scale and sentiments appropriate for scrapbooking. Each of our collections includes a stamp set just for memory keeping and there are lots of other scrapbooking stamp set available in our catalog and website.

This particular set is available with or without thin cuts to save you from fussy cutting out those owls! The shapes that have coordinating thin cuts are designated by the grey shading. In addition to the owls, you also get dies to cut out the flowers.

Bonus: both of these stamp sets are included in this month’s Stamptacular celebration. Get them now at the discounted prices!

If you prefer to use your Cricut or other cutting machine, there is also a Digital Collection which includes both individual images and layered projects. Once purchased, you can load these images into Cricut Design Space or other software that uses SVG files.

Finally, this suite of products has a set of lovely embellishments to help you finish your projects in style. This embellshment pack includes assorted acrylic shapes and a 6″ x 6″ sheet of Grape paperboard die-cuts.

Now it’s time for the fun part! Check out the artwork below for inspiration from the amazing Close To My Heart art team.

This collection also includes two workshops. The Scrpbooking Workshop makes the three fun 2-page layouts shown below. The kit includes materials needed to make these projects. You just need your favorite adhesives and cutting tools to finish them. Enhance your layouts with an optional technique of added detailing using the Teal LePen journaling pen.

The Cardmaking Workshop makes 16 cards, 4 of each of the designs below. To create the projects as shown, pull out your watercolor pencils to color these beautiful butterflies. Additional supplies are listed on the website and in the included directions, which also give you lots of tips and tricks.

Please let me know if you would like supply lists or other information about any of these projects.

This Month We’re “So Much Happy” — check out this featured collection

I’m so happy to introduce you to this month’s featured paper collection, “So Much Happy”. Everything about these brightly colored coordinating products is designed to bring a smile to your face. Here’s a few projects showcasing So Much Happy and the March Stamp of the Month, This Happened.

This collection includes a cheerful pack of patterned paper, coordinating cardstock, Complements (mixed media accents), washi tape and puffy stickers. Mix and match any of these products to create projects that bring sunshine even on the cloudiest of days.

Here’s a few more projects for inspiration! (Email me if you’d like the recipes for any of them.)

Here in Missouri, we’ve had a long, cold winter and these projects are like a fresh breath of spring. I just noticed last night that my daffodils blades are a few inches tall so I know that it won’t be long until I can see these same colors outside my window. But until then, I’ll have these bright papers to cheer me up.

Have a “so much happy” day,

Rebecca

Take DELIGHT with the Blossom Collection

I love the new paper Blossom Collection from Close To My Heart. The colors are cheery and the accents are lovely. Whether you are a scrapbooker, card-maker or other crafter, you will find much to love about Blossom.

This layout came together quickly using stickers from the Blossom Complements. These pages will be perfect for spring or summer memories.

If you are like me, stickers tend to feel flat. To add dimension, I usually pop some up on foam tape. For larger stickers, it helps to put a little powder on the back to remove the stick. The papers needed a little more interest, so I roughed the photo mats up a bit with the edge distresser.

Blossom Layout Detail 3

As you can see from these close ups, I also added a few of the Blossom metal accessories and Ocean Sequins. I love how all these pieces coordinate perfectly.

Blossom Layout Detail 1

I love how “wrapping” my pages with twine looks, but sometimes it is hard to get it to stay in place. My solution is Washi tape — it is light weight and easy to work with. It is strong enough to hold the twine in place, but also offers some forgiveness if you have to move it to get the ends exactly where you want them.

I hope you have enjoyed this project and are inspired to try something new. Remember when you place an order of $25 or more you qualify for my hostess club and are invited to come to my house to put it together the following month. For more information, visit the Events and Hostess Club pages.

Have a wonderful Spring Day,

Rebecca

Details of Idea Book Party Project

UPDATE – DUE TO SNOW, I’VE RESCHEDULE THE REVEAL PARTY TO TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 11.

Yesterday, I invited you to come to my Spring/Summer Idea Book Reveal Party. Click here to view details.

One of the fun things we will be doing is making these two beautiful projects using the new Ariana papers.

The treat purse was made using the Artiste Cricut cartridge and is the perfect size for a Hershey’s Kiss or two — which I’ll have on hand. You can keep it or give it to a special person for Valentine’s Day.

The mini-layout (6″ x 6″) can be completed by a 4″ x 3″ picture of someone(s) you love. Here’s a close up of the pretty butterfly in the upper right corner.

This project also includes a little faux stitching. You will love this technique which look real even up close.

Sensational Seasons

Today, I’d like to share with you all the fun I’ve had with the March Stamp of the Month, Sensational Seasons. My 10-year old daughter grabbed this as soon as I got it and has been creating all kinds of things ever since. It is her favorite of all the stamp sets I have. I finally had a chance to try it out for myself and I have to say, it is a good one.

For the first three pieces below, I used my daughter’s technique of stamping the image in black and filling in with colored pencils. I used one page from a Mix & Mingle album for the base for the wall hanging below.

Recipe:

Black and Chocolate Exclusive Ink

Bamboo, Sweet Leaf and Blush Cardstock

Colored Pencils

Here’s a couple 3″x3″ cards that would be perfect for Easter baskets.

Desert Sand Cardstock

Chocolate brads and ribbon

For this next card, I used markers to color the stamped images to get a brighter look. The stamped sentiment says “You hold a special place forever in my heart”.

Cocoa Exclusive Ink

Mayberry B&T Duos Paper

Colonial White and Smoothie Cardstock

Chocolate ribbon

For the final card below, I stamped the image directly on the B&T Duos paper for a completely different look. I love the simplicity of this application. It looks to me like the little bunny is embroidered on the onesie.

Cocoa Exclusive Ink

Mayberry B&T Duos Paper

Daisy White and Smoothie Cardstock

The last two cards use paper from Mayberry, which is the featured paper set for April’s Paper-crafting Night.

Thanks to fellow consultant Debra Squires who shared the 3D card pattern and to Lauren Meader who shared directions to make the cute baby onesie card.

Just a reminder that the Sensational Seasons stamp set is only available through March 31, 2011. It is available this month at a discounted price or free with additional purchases. Click on this link to get the details.

Thanks for looking at my artwork. I’d love to hear your comments.

Pearfect Spring Day

This weekend, I squeezed in a few minutes (ok, a couple hours) to play around with the Mayberry Workshop On The Go kit. Because I am so ready for warmer weather, both projects I completed have a Spring feel.

The first thing I made is the All Occasion card below. You could send this card to wish a loved one well any special occasion like a birthday, interview or test day. You could also use it on an ordinary day to make it special day.

You can make four cards with this design by choosing the Card Making Mini Kit option for the April 8 Paper-crafting Night.

Recipe:

Mayberry B&T Duos paper

Mayberry My Acrylix Stamp Set

Friendship Small My Acrylix Stamp Set

Cocoa, Smoothie and Bamboo Cardstock and Ink

Next, I chose the layout below to celebrate the coming of spring. I listed ten things that I am looking forward to in the next couple months. It is now assembled and waiting for me to add some fun pictures from these upcoming events. For once I am a little ahead of schedule!

You can make a similar layout (choose your own Top Ten list) by choosing the Scrapbooking Mini Kit options for the April 8 Paper-crafting Night.

Giggles Caps, Friendship Small and Sensational Seasons My Acrylix Stamp Sets

Cocoa, Olive and Colonial White Cardstock and Ink
