Capture all your Summer Memories with this Album

I hope you are having a wonderful summer! What fills your days? Where have you gone? Who have you spent it with? If you have created some fun memories, now is that time to capture them with this cheerful summer album kit! 

I’ve created this bright and cheerful mini-album to help you celebrate the good times you’ve had this summer. It is exclusively available through my website and you can choose to make it on your own or attend one of my classes in August.

Each kit includes:

  • Black mini-album with 10 spiral bound 4″ x 6″ memory protector pages
  • Several 4″ x 6 and 3″ x 4″ base pages (solids and patterns)
  • Coordinating sticker sheets
  • Vellum, chipboard and cardstock die cut pieces

When you order the kit, you will also get a guide with photos of sample pages. Although the photos will give you ideas and inspiration, you are free to mix it up and make pages that fit your style and photos!  Here are a few of of the sample pages:

There is no cutting required other than cropping your photos. You will just need your favorite adhesives to assemble. This is a great project for all ages!

I’ll be teaching this album as a classon August 20 & 22 at First Baptist Church in Arnold. Sign up to make albums with your kids or grandkids and you’ll be making even more memories as you craft together! (Children under 12 need to be accompanied by an adult.)

The 3-2-1 Method and a free project download!

Learn a quick and easy approach to memory keeping in this fun project featuring the Craft On paper packet! This album workshop will guide you through using the 3-2-1 method to make cutting your paper and assembling your album a cinch.

What is the 3-2-1 Method?

This is a formulaic approach to page design. This means that you will follow you follow this formula as you create each page which leaves you have creative freedom to add your own flair when creating your pages. There are just four simple steps to creating pages using the 3-2-1 Method:

  1. Start with a base page 
  2. Add 1″, 2″ and 3″ strips of paper horizontally to the page to create a background design
  3. Layer on top of these your photos
  4. Add decorative elements like stamped images, die cuts and sequins

That’s it! Isn’t that brilliant?

To help you get the hang of this method, this post includes a link to download instructions for creating an Everyday Life album (6″x 8″ pages) using papers and coordinating products from our Craft On collection.

This guide has complete cutting and assembly directions to complete 20 pages. However, I’d suggest you use the photos of the sample pages for ideas and inspiration. Once you’ve cut the strips of paper, mix and match them on the pages. Have fun creating pages using the combinations that you love ant that best suit your photos!

To complete the project as shown, you will also need Crafty Loose Sequins, Fancy Tags Thin Cuts, Basic Circle Thin Cuts (or any 1-1/2″ circle punch or die), a paper trimmer, scissors and your favorite adhesives. 

Your completed pages will fit beautifully in one of our Everyday Life albums. Alternatively, you could use 1″ rings to make a loose album. Add some ribbon to the rings for decoration!

Tis the Season Double Quad Fold Album Directions

At my Idea Book launch in September, we created a Tis The Season Double Quad Fold Album. I posted a picture and have had several requests for directions. Here’s a video showing how it all comes together.

Design Space 

The greenery, bows and poinsettia (on belly band) were cut on my Cricut using images from the Seasons of Joy Collection. Click here to open the file in Design Space.

Measurements

Here are the measurements to create the album just in case you missed them in the video. The base of the album is made with 6 pieces of cardstock (I used black).

– 12″ x 6″ (2)

– 6″ x 6″ (2)

– 4″ x 6″ (1)

Assembly:

Score both 6″ x 12″ pieces at 2″, 4″ 8″ and 10″.

Then cut 1.5″ from each of the long sides starting at the 2″ score mark and ending at 10″.

The top and bottom 1.5″ sections are folded at all four of the score marks alternating “mountain” and “valley” folds.  These two sections are folded the same. The center section is only folded at 4″ and 8″ and these will be the opposite direction as the outer pieces.

Turn one of these pieces 180 degrees and lay them end to end — touching but not overlapping. Here’s a sample made with White Cardstock so it is easier to see.

Cover the center section with the 4″ x 6″ piece of cardstock. 

Score and fold both of the 6″ x 6″ pieces of cardstock 2″ from one edge. Attach one of these to each end of the album, overlapping the 2″ sections.

This completes the whole album base. 

Decorate with pieces of coordinating paper and photos. Cut rectangles 1/4″ smaller than each of the sections, so that base album creates a 1/8″ mat.

Create your own Everyday Life binder tabs using Artbooking

I love our Everyday Life albums! These not-so-mini Mini Albums would make Goldilocks happy: not to small and not too big.

Currently, you have two choices: Black & White Stripes or Sea Glass. (In August, a new color Bashful will be introduced!)

These versatile two-ring albums can become whatever you want them to be. Want to make a pint size photo album? Fill your binder with the 4″x6″ Memory Protectors (2 photos per side) and just slide your printed pictures in. Would you rather mix it up by alternating with journaling and titles? Fill some of the photo wells with 4×6 Picture My Life Cards. Add some 3″x4″ Memory Protectors to mix it up even more. 

Another option is to fill the album with full size 6″x8″ Memory Protectors and fill them with down sized scrapbook layouts. There are Memory Protector designs that you can mix and match throughout your book: 3″x4″, 4″x6″ and 6″x8″.

Of course you can also use the binder as a planner. Either purchase the calendar pages from us (currently deeply discounted!) or create your own. There are so many great printables available on the internet.

Members of my Close To My Heart team are using the Everyday Life album as “business binders”. We are setting up sections to hold information about contacts, events, goals and more.

In fact, you can embrace your creativity and combine all of these ideas to create exactly what you want. Regardless of what you create with your Everyday Life Album, adding a few tabs can help you keep your pages organized.

July Stamp of the Month: From the Notebook

The July Stamp of the Month, From the Notebook, gives you a stylish and simple way to make note of every milestone. There are so many great images on this stamp set to add organizing detail to your projects.

Notice the red lines around some of the images? That means that these images are on the Artistry Cricut cartridge! So simply cut out the image and then add the detail with the stamp.

Here’s a couple projects made by the artists at Close To My Heart to get your creative juices flowing. First, we have this layout which is very trendy with overlapping layers framing the picture.

The second project is a My Creations Black Mini Book which is retiring July 31. Again, we see lots of overlapping layers. A simple album like this is great for younger scrapbookers to record their summer memories.
