What’s Old is New #2! The Hooray Bouquet Stamp set coordinates with Art Philosophy Cricut images!

Update 2/13/2020: I updated this post from 2011 because the Hooray Bouquet set used for this mini-layout is back for a limited time! Even better, it is part of our Stamptacular sale and just $12.25! This stamp set coordinates our very first Cricut collection Art Philosophy. This was one of the first Art Philosophy stamp sets and I sure got a lot of mileage out of it!

This mini-layout is still hanging above my mom’s computer and it still makes me smile everytime I see it. My “little” girl in this picture is now in college and all grown up. Time sure flies doesn’t it?

Although this cartridge retired several years ago, it is back through my special Cricut link! In fact all of our Cricut images can now be purchased and used in Design Space with your Explore or Maker machines!!! Hurry, this stamp set will retire again on 2/29/2020!

I’ve decided to have a second create and take at my open house. Come to my house on Sunday, August 14(2011)from 2:30 – 4:00 pm to make this 6″ x 6″ page in addition to the card I showed you earlier.  This layout can be added to a small scrapbook, but you do not have to be a scrapbooker to enjoy this cute project. It could be framed, hung on your frig, stuck on your office wall, etc. It even would make a great gift.

Bring a favorite 4″ x 4″ picture if you want to finish it here. (No need for specialty printing, just trim down a 4″ x 6″ print).

You will be surprised how simple it is to create using the Hooray Bouquet clear My Acrylix stamp set and the new Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.

Keep Creating,

Rebecca

Springtime in Dallas: Flower Market layout

This coming weekend, I’m excited to be heading to Dallas. Although it is going to be a quick trip, I’m hoping to get a chance to see some of the famous Texas Bluebonnets. According to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, we are right in the middle of the season.

I can’t wait to get a few pictures to put on this layout I made using the Flower MarketCricut cartridge. I love that this cartridge has such a variety of detailed flowers. In an earlier post, I included a link to a document listing of all 50 flowers on the cartridge.

The layers of the flowers are cut from Glacier, Pacifica and Sapphire solid cardstock. The leaves and stems are made of Willow. Scattered over the page are stars cut from Lemon cardstock. The white tag and the “in TEXAS” from the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge which is retired. (I have one left in inventory — message me if you’d like it!) All remaining cuts are from the new Flower Market Cricut cartridge.

On the outer edges, I used coordinating papers from the Enchantment and Adventure Fundamentals line. These patterned papers add more interest than solid cardstock without overwhelming the the floral theme of the page. Starting on the outer edges, you can see strips of the Sapphire thin stripes, Pacifica dots and Lemon broad stripes papers. White Twine and Blue Enamel Gems finish off the page.

While in Texas, I will be at the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo at the Gaylord Texas Resort in Grapevine. If you will be in the area, please stop by the Close To My Heart booth to say “Hi!”. If you can come on Friday morning, you’ll have a chance to make this layout as a create & take!

Art Philosophy Cricut Star Cut-out Window Card

Tired of the same boring flat cards? You can easily turn any Cricut shape into a Window Card using the Slice feature in Design Space.

The card I made uses a blank card base and star from the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. This cartridge is amazing with 700 images including two complete fonts, tons of basic images, cards and fun stuff like 3D roses and borders.

If you don’t have it, order yours today because it is retiring at the end of the month!

As Independence Day approaches this year, it seems like there are a lot of reasons to have fear and doubt. But I choose to have HOPE! We live in an amazing country filled with incredible people. Will you join me? As this card says, I wish for you to “Have a day filled with….Hope!”

To make this card, I “sliced” together a scalloped card base and the star image to create a window. The stamping is from one of the stamp sets from the Art Philosophy Collection.

You could use this same technique with the heart, leaf or other images on the stamp set. In fact, you can do this with any Cricut image. Watch this video to see how surprisingly simple it is to create these custom window cards.

In addition to Art Philosophy, the Artiste and Artfully Sent Cricut cartridge collections are also retiring on July 31. Each of these collections include the cartridge, handbook, 3 coordinating stamp sets and 24 sheets of cardstock! These are my go-to cartridges!

We will also be saying good-bye to a lot of stamp sets that coordinate with the Cricut cartridges and tons of other paper-crafting goodies that are available only while supplies last.

Making Custom Embellishments with Stamps that Coordinate with Cricut Images

Yesterday, I posted directions for making this wintery layout. Since a picture is worth a thousand words and a moving picture is even better, I made a quick instructional video.

Watch this video to learn how to use the Close To My Heart Cricut cartridges and coordinating stamp sets to make custom embellishments like the snowflakes on this layout.

Zoe Paper: Not just for Spring (plus free directions for this Winter Wonderland layout)

This past weekend, I had the privilege to hang out with the fun people at the Creative Rendezvous. I was looking for a project to go along with the theme for the weekend,  “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”.

Right away, I thought of the “Snowflakes” stamp set with all the beautiful lacy snowflakes that coordinate with images on the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.

I usually think of our Zoe collection for spring projects, but the Glacier houndstooth was perfect for snowy project. Even with a little splattering of Sorbet, it works for winter too!

A few pieces of White Shimmer Trim give the layout a touch of snowy glitter.

Yum Cookie Bag

Today’s #30daysofhappy project uses the “Yum” stamp. This project is so simple because the bag already had the lovely geometric pattern.

I just wrapped a strip of cardstock and ribbon around the Designer Creations bag. I cut the white spiked circle using the Art Philosophy cartridge. Then stamped on canery cardstock and trimmed by hand. I added the circles to the project using glue dots.

My supply list: Designer Creations Slate Paper Bag, Canery cardstock, Slate Diagonal Striped Ribbon and Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge. (And cookie!)

Be sure to check back tomorrow, when Ellen at www.cardmonkeysjungle.com will share another project made using this fun stamp set.

#30yearsofhappy – Day 7

This is the 4th day in the #30yearsofhappy Blog Challenge. Each day this month, my friends and I are posting a project featuring a stamp from the exclusive #30yearsofhappy stamp set from Close To My Heart.

To/From Chevron Tag

Today’s #30daysofhappy project uses the “To You/From Me” sentiment stamp. Similar to yesterday, I used one of our Dimensional Elements chipboard pieces that coordinates with one of the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. It is so easy to get your paper to fit perfectly on the shape. No scissors or files needed!

You may notice that the actual stamp is in the shape of a tag. I thought it would be a little odd to stamp a tag on a tag, so I trimmed the images down to rectanges and lined them up across the tag.

My supply list: Canary Basic Fundamental Paper, Slate Cardstock,Sequins Silver Assortment, Slate Diagonal Striped Ribbon, Dimensional Elements Tags and Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge.

Be sure to check back tomorrow, when Ellen at www.cardmonkeysjungle.com will share another project made using this fun stamp set.

WOW! You Did It Banner!

Today’s #30daysofhappy project uses the “You Did It” sentiment stamp (top left corner in the above picture). The banner uses the mini-banner chipboard pieces that come with the Art Philosopy Cricut cartridge. it is so easy to cut your favorite papers to fit the chipboard exactly since the shapes are on the cartridge! I used the black/glacier dotted paper from the Snowhaven pack.

The rosette on the last banner piece was made from two 6″ x 3/4″ strips of paper. I used the Scallop Border punch on one edge before scoring & folding them at the base of each of the scallops. To finish the rosette, I used attached the ends together to make a ring, then pressed the straight edge of the ring toward the center.

You may have noticed that I used Glacier baker’s twine and wondered where I found it. Well, I didn’t so I made some. First, I took a length of the black metallic baker’s twine and separated the strands. Keeping only the white ones, I rolled them back together. Then I ran the twisted strands over the Glacier ink pad a few times until they were the color I wanted. Viola – Glacier Baker’s Twine! You can use your ink pads to create any color of baker’s twine!

My supply list: Snowhaven paper, Neutral Metallic Baker’s Twine, Bitty Sparkles, Dimensional Elements Banners and Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge.

Be sure to check back tomorrow, when Ellen at www.cardmonkeysjungle.com will share another project made using this fun stamp set.
