Overview of Flower Market Cricut Collection: More than just Flowers!

Today, I’d like to share some of the reasons I love the Flower Market Cricut Collection. Although the physical cartridge that contained these images is now retired they are now available using my special Cricut Affiliate link

This is the second post in a series focusing on the Close To My Heart Cricut image sets.

An Introduction to Flower Market

If you have been keeping up with Cricut developments over the last few years, you have probably heard of Flower Market. It is one of the most popular Cricut collections ever because it has such a wide variety of flowers, including several that are 3D when assembled. But you may may not know that this collection has so much more! In addition to flowers, it has images of things to put flowers in like vases, jars and even off things like boots! It also has things to put flowers on like wreaths, laurels and even horse shoes! There are also titles and other images related to the symbolic nature of flowers.

For example, the Poppy flower is used worldwide as a symbol of remembrance, especially those who have died for their country. Along with both 3-D and flat versions of the flowers, there is also a jar, wreath, ribbon and the words “Always Remember”.

Of course you can mix and match these images with others on the cartridges, but coordinating images are conveniently organized by pagethe handbook. Each page has 14 total images (some are automatically layered in Design Space) including a flower and related images.

Flower Market includes familiar favorites like the Daisy, Sunflower and Rose. But it also includes less well known flowers like Trillium and Delphinium. When this collection was released (with the help of Google), I identified each of the flowers and created a handy index that you can download for free! View Flower Market Index>>

Two Fonts

The Flower Market collection includes two lovely fonts. For each letter, you can choose the decorative or straight versions.  The collection also includes numbers and basic symbols.

3-D Flowers

Have you been wanting to join the paper flower craze? This cartridge has several 3D flowers that you can cut and create in minutes. If you need some help with assembly, there are some basic directions in the back of the handbook. These are so much fun to make!

Flowers and much more

As you scroll down and see all of the images on this collection, you’ll see why this is a favorite of mine. There are images and sentiments for all occasions. I frequently use images from this collection in my projects, yet I still see something new every time I look through the handbook.

Make 3 Beautiful Projects in the Virtual Cricut Design Space Workshop

Get your Cricut out of the box or dust it off. It’s time to learn some new skills at the Flower Market Cricut Workshop.

You’re invited to join me for a virtual Cricut class next Sunday (May 17). We’ll make the three projects pictured and described below using the amazing Flower Market Cricut collection. When you make these projects, you’ll learn both basic and advanced Design Space skills. I’m so excited to teach you how to make these beautiful projects.

If you’ve attended one of my workshops before, these are two changes. First, this is now a virtual event which has both limitations but also some advantages over a live event. The most obvious benefit of a virtual class is that you will not need to pack up your machine, laptop, other tools and supplies to travel to where ever I am. You will have the convenience of working in your normal space without the inconvenience of packing and unpacking. We’ll also be able to share community without the pressure to keep up with the person across the table or feeling guilt for working ahead.

Second, for this workshop, you’ll get a guide that includes both step-by-step directions and Design Space links to the completed projects. You choose whether to design the projects from scratch or to jump straight to cutting.

Just in time for your late spring pictures, this layout features just one of then many flowers in the Flower Market collection. You’re going to love creating these iris and fern bouquets.

Pot of Succulents

The last project is this gorgeous pot of succulents. Optional sponging technique adds fun detail to these 3-D plants.

New Dual Track Classes

The printable workshop guide includes step-by-step directions for each project. For each project, you will be guided through the design, cutting and assembly process. These directions will give you the opportunity to learn how to do intermediate and advanced techniques in Design Space. The format will look very familiar if you have attended one of my Cricut classes before.

New with this workshop, the guide with also include links to completed projects in Design Space. If you are new to Design Space or just want a fast track to finishing the projects, you can use these links and focus on basic skills rather than the advanced techniques used to design the projects. The addition of the Design Space links creates a beginner and advanced track for the projects. You choose which track is best for you!

New Virtual Workshop Format

Each workshop will have a schedule date and time for a virtual workshop using Zoom. The session will begin with a walk through the steps of each project. I’ll point out any challenges that you may have along the way and give you tips to avoid them. Once I have finished this portion, the classroom will remain open while you and others in the workshop work at your own pace. Together, we’ll discuss any questions or issues that come up along the way.

Springtime in Dallas: Flower Market layout

This coming weekend, I’m excited to be heading to Dallas. Although it is going to be a quick trip, I’m hoping to get a chance to see some of the famous Texas Bluebonnets. According to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, we are right in the middle of the season.

I can’t wait to get a few pictures to put on this layout I made using the Flower MarketCricut cartridge. I love that this cartridge has such a variety of detailed flowers. In an earlier post, I included a link to a document listing of all 50 flowers on the cartridge.

The layers of the flowers are cut from Glacier, Pacifica and Sapphire solid cardstock. The leaves and stems are made of Willow. Scattered over the page are stars cut from Lemon cardstock. The white tag and the “in TEXAS” from the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge which is retired. (I have one left in inventory — message me if you’d like it!) All remaining cuts are from the new Flower Market Cricut cartridge.

On the outer edges, I used coordinating papers from the Enchantment and Adventure Fundamentals line. These patterned papers add more interest than solid cardstock without overwhelming the the floral theme of the page. Starting on the outer edges, you can see strips of the Sapphire thin stripes, Pacifica dots and Lemon broad stripes papers. White Twine and Blue Enamel Gems finish off the page.

While in Texas, I will be at the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo at the Gaylord Texas Resort in Grapevine. If you will be in the area, please stop by the Close To My Heart booth to say “Hi!”. If you can come on Friday morning, you’ll have a chance to make this layout as a create & take!

Daffodil (Assembly Video): A little Spring in September

My favorite time of the year is Spring and nothing proclaims spring like daffodils! In fact, soon after the new year, I start watching my flower bed for the tender green stems coming out of the dirt. Then I can’t wait until they burst into full color.

I know it seems off to talk about spring flowers in September just a few days before Fall begins. But because daffodils are one of my favorite flowers, it was at the top of my list of flowers to make when the new Flower Market Cricut cartridge was released.

Watch this video to see me make one of these beautiful flowers.

Four Flower Market Videos just released and more to come!

Close To My Heart just posted four videos on Youtube with each one featuring a different key on the new Flower Market Cricut cartridge. In my last post, I discussed how each key on the overlay (or page in the handbook) had a different flower and related images.

Yesterday, Close To My Heart announced that they will be posting a video for each of these keys! In each video, you will learn how to create the primary flower image and see projects using the coordinating images. In this first video, Monica walks you through how to make the layered bluebells on page (or key) 10 of the handbook. She also shows a lovely baby scrapbooking page using the bluebells and related images.

Three other videos in this series are ready for you to watch:

This cartridge is fully loaded with 14 images on each of 50 keys which is a total of 700 images! Over the next few weeks, additional videos are coming featuring each of the remaining keys.

Flower Market Index of Flowers by Key (Free Download)

Earlier this month, I posted an overview of the Flower Market showing all the different types of images on this fully-loaded cartridge. In addition to flowers, there are containers for flowers, backgrounds for flowers, darling images and two complete fonts! Today I’d like to focus in on the flowers.

This weekend, I spent some time really looking at the handbook and was amazed to find detailed depictions of a few flowers that I’m familiar with. For example, here’s a picture of the layered hydrangea in Design Space (p. 20 of the handbook) and a picture from my backyard.

Pretty cool likeness, right?

This made me curious about the rest of the flowers on the cartridge. So I went though each page of the handbook and looked up the main flower shown. There are actually 50 different flowers featured on the cartridge! Each one has either a 3D or layered image plus containers, backgrounds and sentiments that go along with that flower. Many have simpler versions or individual flowers vs. grouping. There is so much content on this cartridge!

Here’s all of the shapes that coordinate with the hydrangea:

I looked up the meaning of a hydrangea and found a wide variety — some good and some actually not so good. One that stood out to me was that these colorful clusters of flowers represent apology, forgiveness and gratitude. I think that’s the meaning that the designer of this cartridge choose to depict with the hot air balloon, sun, fluffy flowers and “Today”.

To help you find your favorite flowers, I summarized the primary flowers on each page of the handbook (or key on the overlay) in a handy reference page that you can download for free!

Dandelion: Weed or Flower? (Assembly Video)

Dandelions are usually thought of as pests, but at Close To My Heart we’ve risen them to the status of flower by including them on the new Cricut cartridge “Flower Market”. And the result? I think the dandelion is pretty, but you can judge for yourself.

Watch my video to see how a few pieces of paper transform into a Dandelion.

Wasn’t that fun? This is just one of many flowers (both 3D and flat) on the Flower Market cartridge. I can’t wait to try the next one.

Until next time,

So what exactly is on the Flower Market Cartridge?

Earlier this month, Close To My Heart released the newest Cricut Cartridge, Flower Market. As the name suggests, this cartridge has lots of flowers. That includes some gorgeous 3D flowers like those on the cover of the new Idea Book (below) as well as flat flowers that are perfect for cards and layouts.

But like our other cartridges, this one is fully loaded with 700 images which include tons of things that are NOT flowers. So today, I’m going to walk you through what you will find on this cartridge.

Let’s start with the flowers! There are 17 three-dimensional flowers (or cacti) that involve folding then attaching a number of layers. To help you understand how to assemble these there is a little tutorial on the two basic types of layered flowers in the back of the handbook.

There are also a ton of “flat” flowers although many of these have several layers that you can assemble with foam tape to create dimension. Mixed in with the flowers are other trendy icons to use on your pages or cards.

Of course, if you have flowers, you need something to put them in. So there is a whole set of  containers like vases, jars, baskets and even boots!

Sometimes, you will want to mount your flowers ON something instead of IN something. So you will also find “background” images like leaves, wreaths and other designs that can be dressed up with a few flowers.

Of course, your projects will need words. So there are a wide variety of sentiments great for all holidays and occasions.

Don’t see the words you want to use? You can cut out individual letters with the two complete fonts included on the cartridge.

Remember that your cartridge comes with a pack of cardstock in our bright Adventure color palette plus three stamp sets. The first stamp set has lots of great sentiments and the other two are nice backgrounds to add interest to your projects.

Remember in August only I’ll add on a free stamp set (“Hi Friend”A1198) and send you directions for projects you can make using the cartridge with the included paper and stamp sets. To take advantage of this offer, email me and I’ll get back to you to finalize the order.
