Make 3 Beautiful Projects in the Virtual Cricut Design Space Workshop

Get your Cricut out of the box or dust it off. It’s time to learn some new skills at the Flower Market Cricut Workshop.

You’re invited to join me for a virtual Cricut class next Sunday (May 17). We’ll make the three projects pictured and described below using the amazing Flower Market Cricut collection. When you make these projects, you’ll learn both basic and advanced Design Space skills. I’m so excited to teach you how to make these beautiful projects.

If you’ve attended one of my workshops before, these are two changes. First, this is now a virtual event which has both limitations but also some advantages over a live event. The most obvious benefit of a virtual class is that you will not need to pack up your machine, laptop, other tools and supplies to travel to where ever I am. You will have the convenience of working in your normal space without the inconvenience of packing and unpacking. We’ll also be able to share community without the pressure to keep up with the person across the table or feeling guilt for working ahead.

Second, for this workshop, you’ll get a guide that includes both step-by-step directions and Design Space links to the completed projects. You choose whether to design the projects from scratch or to jump straight to cutting.

Workshop contents:

  • Cardstock
  • I Heart Us Paper
  • Foil Paper
  • Card base & envelope
  • Paper mache flower pot
  • Dual Track Printable Guide, with step-by-step directions plus Design Space links to completed projects
  • Virtual “Live” Workshop Meeting

New Dual Track Classes

The printable workshop guide includes step-by-step directions for each project. For each project, you will be guided through the design, cutting and assembly process. These directions will give you the opportunity to learn how to do intermediate and advanced techniques in Design Space. The format will look very familiar if you have attended one of my Cricut classes before.

New with this workshop, the guide with also include links to completed projects in Design Space. If you are new to Design Space or just want a fast track to finishing the projects, you can use these links and focus on basic skills rather than the advanced techniques used to design the projects. The addition of the Design Space links creates a beginner and advanced track for the projects. You choose which track is best for you!

New Virtual Workshop Format

Each workshop will have a schedule date and time for a virtual workshop using Zoom. The session will begin with a walk through the steps of each project. I’ll point out any challenges that you may have along the way and give you tips to avoid them. Once I have finished this portion, the classroom will remain open while you and others in the workshop work at your own pace. Together, we’ll discuss any questions or issues that come up along the way.

I can not “Bear” to have you miss the next Card Workshop

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted about my All You Can Make card workshops so I’d like to give you an update since I’ve moved my card “buffet” from a table to a wall. This new set up is working so well!  Going vertical makes it easier for my guests to select what card they would like to make.

Once a card is selected, the sample can be pulled down because they are conveniently mounted on the displays at the top with Velcro. You may notice that there are a couple empty spots — I will be filling these with ChristmasCardsbefore the next workshop! In fact, I will add a half dozen holiday cards by the November workshops and in December, the board will be nearly filled with HOLIDAY CARDS!

Beneath the cards on display, there are two rows of bags. These bags contain the card bases, envelopes, stamp set, papers, embellishments to make the card. They are numbered to match numbers that are on the back of the sample cards. They also contain a list of ink pads and other items from the “tool table” needed. Once you have gathered up the sample card, bag of materials and tools, you can make as many of the selected card as you’d like. At the workshop, you will have 2 full hours to make as many cards as you’d like!

Tonight I added kits for this adorable masculine card to the buffet. It is likely the last non-holiday card I add this year. It is made with the recently retired Jack paper and Cardmaking stamp + thin cut set. (Although offiicially retired, this set is still available to purchase!).

This stamp set is one of my favorites! As you can see, there are several other sentiments you could choose in place of the one I used. If you want to get really ahead, you could even make your Father’s Day cards for next year!

If you live in the St. Louis/Arnold area, I’d love to have you join us at my next All You Can Make Card Workshop! I am hosting two each month through December.  If you can’t make it to my card workshops, the card buffet wall is always open! You can make these cards a la carte for just $2.50 each during my crops and other events.

For more details and sign up for card workshops, crops or other events, head over to my Yapsody website. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask me. Hope to see you here!

Five Final Sangria Cards

As July is coming to an end, the end is also near for our current Annual Inspirations Idea Book. Today, I was looking through some of the things I’ve made with the products from this catalog and realized I had not shared this set of All Occasion Cards.

This is using my favorite paper from the Annual Inspirations book, Sangria. Love the combination of secondary colors (purple, green and orange), with a hint of deep pink in the mix. The stamp set is one of my favorites: Stamps of Approval (C1637) which retired earlier this year.

I had a lot of fun making these cards because the papers in the pack work so well together. Because the paper is so rich in color and design, the only embellishments I added were Poppy Thick Twine and a few Durable Artisan Studs (also retiring on Sunday).

Here’s a close up of each card:

I hope that you enjoyed these cards. My goal in blogging about my projects is to inspire you to make time for creating. When life is stressful, overwhelming or sad, I turn to crafting. Focusing on my work helps me get back to center and also frees my mind to touch base with my creator. So clear off a corner of your calendar, grab a few papers from your stash and create even for a few minutes.

By the way, if you love the papers in these cards, be sure to order theSangria paper pack(and any coordinating items you like) before Sunday, July 31 at midnight (MDT). Please let me know if you have questions about these projects or the products I used.

Art Philosophy Cricut Star Cut-out Window Card

Tired of the same boring flat cards? You can easily turn any Cricut shape into a Window Card using the Slice feature in Design Space.

The card I made uses a blank card base and star from the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. This cartridge is amazing with 700 images including two complete fonts, tons of basic images, cards and fun stuff like 3D roses and borders.

If you don’t have it, order yours today because it is retiring at the end of the month!

As Independence Day approaches this year, it seems like there are a lot of reasons to have fear and doubt. But I choose to have HOPE! We live in an amazing country filled with incredible people. Will you join me? As this card says, I wish for you to “Have a day filled with….Hope!”

To make this card, I “sliced” together a scalloped card base and the star image to create a window. The stamping is from one of the stamp sets from the Art Philosophy Collection.

You could use this same technique with the heart, leaf or other images on the stamp set. In fact, you can do this with any Cricut image. Watch this video to see how surprisingly simple it is to create these custom window cards.

In addition to Art Philosophy, the Artiste and Artfully Sent Cricut cartridge collections are also retiring on July 31. Each of these collections include the cartridge, handbook, 3 coordinating stamp sets and 24 sheets of cardstock! These are my go-to cartridges!

We will also be saying good-bye to a lot of stamp sets that coordinate with the Cricut cartridges and tons of other paper-crafting goodies that are available only while supplies last.

Happy Father’s Day Artiste Shirt & Tie Card

This weekend we will be honoring our Fathers!

Father's Day Card

You still have time to make this card before Sunday thanks to the Artiste Cricut cartridge. The card, tie and pocket are on page 75 of the handbook. I cut my card at 4.25” tall and it fits in a standard A2 envelope.

Image

Here’s what the card base looks like when you cut it out. It is a top-fold card, so you are looking at the front of the card with the card back above it upside down.

Father's Day Card - piece

To assemble, the first thing you will do is fold the base in half on the horizontal score line. You will notice two slits at the top of the card separating the collar from the shirt. Fold these down at an angle on the score lines.

Father's Day Card - fold2

Father's Day Card - fold3

Use a little adhesive to secure collar.  The stamping on the pocket is from D1560 Holiday Tags. I absolutely love this stamp set because it covers pretty much every holiday and has the great frames that can be cut using the Artiste cartridge.

***Important note: Both this stamp set and the Artiste cartridge will retire on July 31***

A nice finishing detail is the stitching which was drawn with a journaling pen. The tie and knot was cut from retired paper pack Timberline.

Happy Father’s Day!
