CTMH Convention: It’s like Christmas in July for me!

This week is a very exciting weeks of the year for me and my Close To My Heart buddies. Our North American Convention is when we get together with friends, see new products, get amazing training and basically get charged up for the upcoming fall and holiday season.

At last year’s convention we celebrated Sticky Boy‘s wedding in Las Vegas. This year we are in Provo, Utah which is just a stones throw from our home office. In fact later today, I get to tour this building where all the magic happens!

Two years ago, they opened the doors to convention goers for the first time.

When we entered the building we were greeted by this beautiful paper mobile in the front lobby.

It was fun to see the art room (“where all the magic happens”) and the lovely cabinetry which is the setting for a lot of the videos.

We even got to visit Jeanette’s beautiful office!

We’ve been told that this year’s tour will be different and will include a new meeting room which will be the location for the next scrapbook retreat.

After arriving in Provo late last night, I woke up early this morning and couldn’t go back to sleep. Can’t wait for all the fun to begin!

First Day in Utah Layout

Yesterday, I share a scrapbook page from the 2017 Close To My Heart convention. My flight was early on the day before the convention started, so I had most of the day to explore Salt Lake City. It was a beautiful day and the pedometer on my watch was very happy with me!

Most of these pictures are from Temple Square. I learned so much about the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. On the bottom of the left pages are two pictures of the convention center where I would be spending the next few days.

The layout itself is another project from convention. Although I re-arranged my pieces a bit, it was easy to pull together because everything we cut out and ready for us to assemble — thank you CTMH! These professionally created projects always included so many little details that I tend to neglect when I’m creating from scratch, for example the stamped splatters.

You may remember thatyesterday’s layout had the word “Utah” on it. This one has the shape of the state. Both of these images are from the Hello USA Cricut Collection (digital only).

Sweet Memories from our Salt Lake City Convention

Today, I wanted to share with you a special picture that deserved a special layout.

In June, I traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah to the Close To My Heart Convention. I spend four days with some of the most lovely people in the world, many are in the photo above. These are my people, the Scattered Hearts team and our leader, Tina Sutton (holding the white heart in the front row).

In addition to catching up with old friends and meeting new ones, a highlight of convention is playing with all the new products. This layout was one of our projects and it uses papers, embellishments and stamp sets from the new 2017 Annual Inspirations Idea Book. I love how this layout has lots of layers created by a combination of papers, stickers, Cricut-cuts and pearls.

We were given one last project which was two layouts with this beautiful exclusive Viva stamp set and full paper pack!

Kraft Cards Mini-Album – Convention Project #3

Here’s a picture of the final project we made at convention.

This accordian mini-album is actually three of the new 6″ square kraft cards. As you can see in the picture below, each of these cards has a scalloped flap in the front. To attach the cards together, the flaps for two of the cards are glued to the back of the next card in the book.

Once you have the cards attached, you need to refold to make an accordian. Now it is time to decorate!

By the way, the stamp set was our gift at the convention banquet. Unfortunately (for you), it is not available for sell. Given how much I love all things Disney, I have lots of plans for this set.

Throughout this album we attached Decor Journaling Spots. These packets come in a package of 12 (two each of 6 colors). I have plenty left over for another project.

Many of the shapes used in this album were cut using the new Cricut cartridge including the quote box below. See how perfectly the frame on the stamp fits on the paper? Ingeneous!

We also used the new Alphabets Cork to put 2011 on the front and to add the words DREAM, WISH and ASPIRE on internal pages. To make these letters pop off the kraft paper, we first sponged them with Cocoa ink.

I hope you have enjoyed my tour of convention projects. If you have any questions about the supply list or techniques used, just drop me an email.
