New Die-cuts for favorite Stamp Sets!

Love stamping, but hate “fussy cutting”? Thin cuts are a great way to have perfectly cut stamped images and we have just introduced four new sets that coordinate with stamp sets in the Annual Inspirations Idea Book.

You can use these thin metal dies with your favorite die-cutting machine (I use Cuttlebug) to quickly and easily cut shapes ont he stamp sets. The Thin cuts are packaged on their own magnetic sheet and work well with most die-cutting machines.

The first new set of thin cuts coordinates with the School Kids stamp set (D1706). Images include all three children, an apple and the school house.

We also have a new thin cut to go with the Wreath stamp set (A1193). I love this stamp set, but cutting out the wreath is so tedious. Now, I can literally just crank them out.

The next thin cut coordinates with images on the Sweet Birthday (B1532) stamp set. Images include the candle, cupcake and party hat.

The last one is my favorite. These new thin cuts coordinate with the Swirly Seashells (C1664) stamp set. Note that each of the shells on this stamp set can now be cut from the thin cuts!

Your Special Day Card with a touch of “Adult Coloring”

Do you love doing “adult coloring” but want to actually finish a project? Here’s a quick card I made with just enough coloring to be fun, but fast enough to feel ok about giving it away 🙂

To prevent the ink from smearing, I stamped with Black pigment ink and used the craft gun to heat set it before coloring.

The happy giraffe on this stamp set, Safari Ballet (A1180), was so much fun to color.  I used Turquoise Blue, Golden Yellow & Barely Beige.

Everything you need to make this card, including the cute Georgie papers is available on my website, rebeccabrown.ctmh.com.

“What a Hoot” Birthday Card

Today, I want to show you a card I made with this month’s stamp of the month, “What a Hoot”. When I first look at the stamp set, I immediately thought of it as a Halloween set. But upon closer inspection, I noted all kinds of things you can use to dress up the cute little owl/bat. The accessories you choose can totally change the season of your project.

For this card, I choose to use the celebration hat and flowers to make a quirky owl birthday card.

This card is based on the Gallery design on page 119 of the Wishes book. Although I used the Scaredy Cat paper, I choose patterns that are not blatantly Halloween.

All the stamping is with Black pigment ink and colored with the new Alcohol markers (Marigold, Peony Purple & Pastel Peach.) Although the markers are not available in our exclusive inks palette, the colors coordinate quite nicely as you can see. In fact, after I colored the owl with Peony Purple (2 coats), I couldn’t tell it was not cut from Thistle paper.

This stamp set is only available through August 31. The full retail price is $17.95, but you can get yours for just $5; that’s over 70% savings. When you place an order of $50 or more in Close To My Heart products, you qualify for this special Stamp of the Month pricing.

Just $5 with a $50 purchase!

I hope you enjoy this project. Tomorrow, I’ll post a similar card I made that follows the Halloween theme closer. In the mean time, keep creating!

The Cards Keep on Spinning

Last week, I showed you the first two projects we made at the Close To My Heart Convention in June: Follow Your Heart Mini Album and the Base & Bling Necklace. Today, I have five of the new Spin Cards decorated with some of the new papers and embellishments. We also got five of the new Mini Stamps. Love!

The Present Spin Card

The new Spin Cards are 5″ x 7″ and have a 2.5″ square cut out on the front. In the void there is a 2″ circle on a string which allows it to spin…hence the name “Spin Card”.

And they really do spin! In fact, I had a hard time taking these pictures. There was just a slight breeze, but the circles would not stay still long enough for me to get a good shot. I took about 10 pictures of this card before I got a good one. (See the neighbor’s house in the background? Normally, I would have retaken the picture, but not today!)

Here’s one of the reject pictures that shows you the spinning action.

Spinning Action

This next card is my favorite. The new Frosted paper is simply lovely. If this paper can get this summer girl excited about winter coming, it must be special! The center of the card has one of the new Base & Bling Floral Accents. (Another shot of our neighbor’s house!)

Frosted Snowflake Spin Card

Here’s what the cards look like when you turn them horizontal. I think it would be need to put a continuing message on the front and back of the spinning circle. Wouldn’t that be fun?

I (Heart) You Spin Card

Some of you already purchased the True Thank You mini stamp in June set to support the American Red Cross’ Oklahoma tornado relief efforts. Thank you so much for your support!

Thank You Spin Card

I love the new Mini Stamps. They are just the right size to make 3″ x 3″ cards which I love to make and give. They are also perfect for these new Spin Cards. In fact at convention, they said the Spin Cards were added to the product line just for the new stamp sets. Once again, I love how Close To My Heart makes products that coordinate together so well.

For this last card, the spin was un-spun. By adding a piece of paper across the cut out, the card is now simply a window card.

I hope you have enjoyed this preview of the new Spin Cards and Mini Stamps. They will be available for purchase on August 1.

In the mean time, keep creating!

Have a Later Sk8r Birthday

Let’s take a quick break from all the discussions about the new stuff. Here’s a couple 3″x3″ birthday cards I made with a few Later Sk8r scraps and the “Perfect Fit – Happy Birthday” stamp set. Just a reminder that this is one of the paper packs that will be retired after June 30.

I love 3″x 3″ cards. They are so quick and is a great way to use up your left over paper and accessories.

Make someone’s day by sneaking one in a lunch box or brief case. You can also use them for gift tags. Lots of fun!

Keep creating!

Happy Father’s Day!

Next Sunday is Father’s Day. Here’s a quick card and you still have time to whip it up for your dad or other special man in your life.

Does this card look familiar? It is a modified version of one of this month’s workshop cards. It uses the same Tommy Paper and Perfect Fit Frame stamps. I simply swapped out the sentiment on the center circle with the Father’s Day sentiment from a discontinued stamp set.

I love the Perfect Fit frame stamp sets because they are so versatile. Each frame has a blank center circle that can be customized using any of the stamps from the Perfect Fit line

For these cards, I used the original Perfect Fit Frames set.

This set was so popular that Close To My Heart created a Perfect Fit Frames 2 set with trendy background designs.

You will love mixing and matching these with the sentiments and images on Perfect Fit – Holidays, Perfect Fit – Halloween, Perfect Fit – Birthday, Perfect Fit – Dad and Perfect Fit – Mom. They also coordinate perfectly with the Monogram stamps.

Reversible Cards

I apologize that it has been a while since I have posted any art work. Today, I’m going to make up for it and post a series of simple cards.

Each of these cards is reversible! By this I mean that although each pair of cards were cut from the same papers, I turned one more of the B&T papers over before assembling one of them. It is so fun to see what a difference this can make.

These cards are so simple and easy to make because all of the sentiments on the Casual Expressions Stamp set can be cut out using the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.

Recipe for cards:

Paper: Card 1 – Clementine, Card 2 – Avonlea and Dakota, Card 3 – Scholastic, Card 4 – Flirty

Stamp: Casual Expressions

Embellishments: Mocha Opaques, Burlap Ribbon

I hope these cards have inspired you to think simple. Just a few rectangles of paper can be used to make designer cards with some creative stamping and a few embellishments!

Have a crafty day,

Rebecca
