My Favorites Layout

Today, I want to share with you this “favorites” layout I made at the Regional Celebration. Designed by the creative folks at Close To My Heart, this layout uses the background papers from the Scholastic pack. Because the colors and designs are somewhat muted, your pictures will shine.

This would be a great way to showcase your favorite memories from 2012. There is room for at least five pictures. The 3″x3″ openings on the right side would be great for Instagram style prints from your phone snapshots.

Making pages that depend heavily on stamping are easy on your pocket book too! I love creating my own embellishments from a little cardstock and ink!

Do you recognize the stamp set I used? If you said Perfect Fit – Frames, you are correct.

This set is typically used to frame 1×1 circles that can be stamped with images or words. In this layout, the round “frame” was used as a background stamp on the right page. The oval frame was used as an embellishment on both pages. After wrapping it with Baker’s Twine, I attached it using foam tape to add dimension.

Here’s a close up of the cluster on the left page.

School Days Mini-Album

With just a few additional items, you can use the left over paper and supplies from the Scholastic Workshop on the Go to make a mini-album. The supply list and directions are HERE.

For my album, I wanted to showcase all of my daughter’s elementary grades. As you’ll see from the pictures below, I changed the layouts of the pages to accommodate her school pictures from Preschool through Sixth Grade.

I also made a couple changes to how the card flaps were used. First, I created an enclosure by scoring the flap on the back page about a half inch from the original fold. this is about the right depth so that it reaches to the front of the album. After I took these pictures, I added a couple of the new hook and loop dots to hold it shut.

For each of the interior pages, I left the pockets open. I plan to make a one page summary tags of the important details for each grade to insert into these pockets.

Third Grade Layout – Done Fast!

A well-kept secret is that on the back of each set of My Stickease Assortment are two layouts that can be completed using just cardstock and the stickers. In CTMH-speak, these layouts are called “Level 2” since they do not involve stamping and are fairly quick to pull together.

The first layout is typically featured in the idea book, but the second is a mystery until you have the Stickease. For example, the first Scholastic Level 2 layout is on page 44 of the 2012 Autumn/Winter Idea Book and uses approximately half of the Stickease available.

Here’s a layout that I adapted from the second pattern which uses most of the remaining stickers.

As you saw in my earlier post, I am working on completing a layout for each of my daughter’s elementary. This one is her 3rd grade class. Other than struggling with whether to try to hide, match or ignore the bright green background on the class picture (I choose to ignore it), this layout was quick and easy to pull together.

School Yeart Layouts – K and 6 Done!

Here’s my version of the Scholastic Workshop on the Go layouts:

My daughter is entering middle school this fall, so my goal is to finish a scrapbook of her elementary years by the end of September. The Scholastic papers are really helping me get closer to achieving that goal. These two layouts take care of the bookend years: Kindergarten and 6th grade. I have a little more journaling to do to call these 100% done, but getting close.

I love how much dimension the durables studs add to these layouts.

See my kits page for more information about ordering my Scholastic kits or coordinating items.

Scholastic Kits are Here!

Just in time for Back to School, I am offering three project kits using the Scholastic paper.

My first kit includes everything you need to create 12 cards (4 each of 3 designs). These cards would be appropriate for congratulations, back to school, teacher thank you, and more.

Close ups of the cards:

There are two options for scrapbookers. My level 2 kit makes use of the card-stock weight coordinating Stickease. No stamping is required to create these quick layouts.

The level 3 workshop on the go includes an exclusive stamp set as well as coordinating accessories for added flexibility and beauty.

See myKits page for more information.
