Christmas Time is Here Layout: FREE link to Design Space file!

I’ve been playing with the City Sidewalks Cricut cartridge again!

I love the holiday village on the City Sidewalks Cricut collection and the overlay is perfect to create a snowy night sky. It is a great layout to display the pictures of your home’s light display or other decorations or whatever it is that makes you feel like “Christmas Time Is Here”.

If you like this layout, I’ve saved the file for you! Simply click on the link below to open it in your Design Space account. Then you are ready to start cutting!

<<LINK to open Design Space file>>

IMPORTANT: Note that you will not be able to cut this file unless you have linked the City Sidewalks cartridge. If you do not have it yet, you can order it HERE. This cartridge retires on December 31, so don’t put off getting your copy!

In addition, the “TIME IS HERE” is from the Flower Market cartridge. You order it (physical or digital) can change the text to your favorite font.

By the way, I also have a free Design Space file for the three City Sidewalks cards below. As I announced yesterday, you can get this file by signing up for my newsletter. (Available to new subscribers in December 2016 only.)

The rich colors of this layout are from our Enchantment color palette: Sapphire, Fern, New England Ivy, Pomegranate and Saffron. You just need one sheet of each. You will also need a sheet of Cocoa and three sheets of White Daisy.

To create village scene, cut pieces of the Saffron paper and adhere to the back of White
layer to cover the holes for the windows and lamp light. Then attach the White (with Saffron pieces down) on top of the Cocoa piece. Finish off the shops and trees with the remaining pieces of Fern, New England Ivy and Pomegranate.

NOTE: There ate two tiny Pomegranate chimneys! I missed them and had to cut them by hand from scraps!

For the trees, layer the New England Ivy over the White bases to create snowy branches. Then finish them off with with the Cocoa trunks.

Once you have cut out all of the Cricut pieces, you can cut the three 4 x 6 photo mats from the remainder of the Fern cardstock. To assemble the layout, I used 3D foam tape liberally. I used the thin 3D tape under the village and regular 3D tape under the trees to add variety and depth.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this project and it inspires you to spend some time crafting this holiday season. To see more artwork I’ve created or pictures of all of the images, click here.

Happy Christmas Creating,

City Sidewalks Sparkles in this Wreath Card – FREE Design Space project file!

I have one more project to show you from the City Sidewalks cartridge. (Be sure to scroll down the the bottom of the page to see how to get a FREE Design Space file to recreate this card!)

This card is super simple using the Merry Christmas sentiment and wreath from New England Ivy and Pomegranate cardstock. I dressed them up a bit by layering a piece of Pomegranate cardstock and glitter paper under the images. Typically, I’d embellish more, but it seemed complete with the sparkle under the images.

FREE Design Space file!

You can get a copy of the Design Space files used to create this card as well as the two City Sidewalks cards below by simply signing up for my newsletter using the link below!

Welcome to the Christmas Season: I RUFF CHRISTMAS!

Now that Thanksgiving is past, it is now officially the Christmas Season! Although this time of year can be hectic and stressful, there is also magic in the air. I really do love (“ruff”) Christmastime!

This year, I’m challenging myself to spend more time in the “magic” and less in the stress. This means

  • simplified gifts
  • baking for fun (without quotas!)
  • listening to the words of favorite Christmas tunes
  • watching Christmas movies with my daughter
  • having more sit down family meals
  • try some new craft techniques

Basically, evaluating everything on my “must do list” and make sure it really is a must do. It is so easy to believe that every good Christmas memory from past years needs to be recreated. Instead, I encourage you to find ways to preserve those memories (need help? I’ve got ideas) and focus instead on making new ones!

The card above was made using the new City Sidewalks Cricut Collection. Both the dog and the sentiment are on Picture My LIfe Pocket scrapbooking cards. The dog card is proportioned to be a 3″ x 4″ card and “I Ruff Christmas” is proportioned to be a 4″ x 6″ card.

For this fun Christmas card, I hid the black card layers, changed the colors and resized both until they fit together. I love using 3D tape on my projects and for both images I used some to add dimension.

The Christmas lights border at the bottom of the card is also on the City Sidewalks cartridge.

Remember, this cartridge is only available for Cricut Explore-type machines and will retire on December 31, 2016. To see more artwork I’ve created or pictures of all of the images, click here.

Happy Christmas Creating,

Rebecca

City Sidewalks Snow Globe Card

As we near the middle of November, it’s time to get started on Christmas cards! I made the card below with images from the new City Sidewalks Cricut collection.

This card was inspired by my friend Julie’s snow globe card that you can see by clicking HERE.

For my card, I used Design Space basic shapes to cut the snow globe (circle) and base (triangle). The remaining images are from City Sidewalks. To make the card more dimensional without getting too thick to mail, I used the thin 3D foam tape.

The City Sidewalks cartridge has lots of great Christmas images that mix tradition with whimsy. Over the next few days I’ll be sharing a few more projects I made that I hope will inspire you.

Here’s a look at everything you get on this “virtual” cartridge:

Note that the City Sidewalks is virtual and will only work machines that use Design Space (all variations of the Explore). Also, keep in mind that this “cartridge” is only available through December 31 and you can buy yours on my shopping website
