Stand Still

I really enjoyed listening to the keynote speaker at the convention was Stacy Jillian. Her message was to slow down and live life.

There were so many take aways, but I narrowed it down to two challenges that I’m going to focus on as I wind up a busy summer and prepare for an equally challenging fall:

1) Occasionally leave the camera at home (intentionally, not because I forgot it). Stepping out from behind the camera allows you to “be there”. Recording the memory is not just about having pictures in an album. It is about telling the story.

2) Get rid of the guilt! Don’t get depressed about how “behind” you are in your scrapbooks. That is missing the point. Your children may appreciate a simple, loving picture/text more than the “gift” of an entire life book album. (My 12 year old daughter verified this point.)

Follow this link to Stacy’s blog (link) to watch the touching video she showed during her message. The song Stand Still by Hilary Weeks is a new favorite for me. Enjoy!

More Convention Announements

Wow, yesterday was a long, exciting day. Before I head back to convention, I wanted to share with you some major announcements that were made.

But first, here is a picture of the coveted 2012 Autumn/Winter Idea Book. You may be able to tell from the picture that mine is already dog-eared and a little tattered from use. Email me to find out how you can get your hands on one!

WARNING: Lots of geeky detail coming up. Fill free to scan and skip, but be sure to make it to the bottom of this post for a few preview pictures. One thing I love about convention is that you get to see all those great projects that are in the Idea Book in person! It is amazing how much texture and dimension is not captured in flat pictures. I know my photography doesn’t even come close to the CTMH talent, but I tried to snap a few pictures at angles that show more of the demension in these projects.

2012 Convention Day 1 Announcements:

*** Lots of new accessories featuring Cameos, keys, fabric flowers, lots of canvas items, chalk board items, …trust me, they are beautiful!

*** New My Creations – 3″ block, Cubby with 25 holes (Christmas count down), Bracket Frame (1″ deep for lots of layers!), 12″ Star, Canvas Journal

*** New Black Wooden Display tray to decorate. Would be perfect for momentos from a trip, school year, etc.

*** 13 Workshops on the Go! 8 – Sc rapbooking, 2 – Card-making, 2- Home Decor and 1-Halloween party.

*** Now just 40 core colors. Some of the WOTG have cardstock in special “seasonal” cardstock that will not be available elsewhere.

***New Alcohol markers – set of 2 for each of the 40 core colors. Great for blending! There are some major differences between these and Copics: ours have a more rigid tip which will be better for filling in small stamped spaces, do not need special paper, are not refillable & have a much lower price. Color will get more intense by going over.  Blending pen can be used to erase or can blend by picking up color from tip of alcohol marker.

***Pigment ink pads – Great for stamping images to be filled in with new alcohol markers. Also great for home decor items. These are in towers of 10 colors for just $19.95!

*** Bulk cardstock is back for all colors!

*** More than 70 children have benefited from CTMH’s involvement with Operation Smile. That is something exciting to smile about.

*** There are 6 new express collections in Studio J that will make creating 10 page theme albums a snap! We’ll learn more about this later today.

*** New organizers. Small and medium sizes now…more in this line will be coming out in Spring/Summer 2013 Idea Book. The large one will hold 45 stamp sets!

*** New Cricut Cartridge Artiste! 698 new shapes (includes circle & square for convenience), Lots of 3D shapes, comes with assembly booklet. I can’t wait to get my hands on the booklet and see details for myself!

*** 15 new stamp sets coordinate with Artiste and 10 with Art Philosophy! Idea Book will say which cartridge the set coordinates with. Also the carrier sheet will now say what page in the cricut hand book the shape is on. No more hunting!

Can’t wait to see what today has in store!

Get an Awesome Bag – FREE!

I just have to show you this great bag that I got just by coming to the 2012 Close To My Heart convention received. Anyone who joins my team in August will receive one just like it along with their new consultant kit! (while supplies last.) This is great news on top of yesterday’s announcement that the New Consultant kit is just $49.

Totally cute isn’t it? It is also oh so roomy and sturdy.

As you can see from this picture of the back, it has two sets of removable straps so that it can be used as a back pack or a shoulder bag. My final picture below shows you the main zippered pocket which has room for several inches of 12″x12″ (or larger) items. You can also see that there is a front pocket and two side pockets. Lots of places to stash your stuff!

I would love to have you on my team. Are you ready to join? If it is August 1 today or later simply click on this linkand fill in the simple online application.

If you have followed my Tweets, you have already heard the big announcements from this morning:

1) New Consultant Essentials Kit is just $49 (plus $10 shipping)!!! Retail value of products is $130. This is a very low entry price into what I believe will be a wonderful experience for you regardless of whether you are looking for some extra income or just want to get the great consultant discount for your hobby.

2) Studio J Memberships are going away! Going forward everyone will have access to everything in our online scrapbooking tool. Two page layouts will be available for just $6.95, plus shipping. There will be a transition plan for those of you who already have a membership….stay tuned for details.

3) The next incentive trip will be at the Westin Playa Conchal in Costa Rica. This is an all inclusive trip and there are lots of extras included for those that earn this trip. Detail for the program have not been announced…can’t wait to hear!

The Leadership Day concluded with each of us receiving one of the new Workshops on the Go called Scholastic. As you would guess, it will be great for all those back to school pictures.

Here’s a quick picture of the contents I took on my hotel room floor.
