Sheltering in Place Projects! What are you making?

While sheltering in place last weekend, I hosted a virtual crop with my Close To My Heart team. Aren’t they beautiful? We had a fun time catching up, laughing and at times just working in silence — together.  It was so much fun, we have scheduled another one for next weekend!

We had originally planned to get together for a team day crop that Saturday, so we tried to make this as close as possible to an in-person crop. To to this, each of us tried to clear our schedule as much as possible just like we would if we were leaving home to spend a weekend with our crafting buds.

Just like a face-to-face crop, we achieved three things 1) we escaped for a few hours from our daily stress and responsibilities, 2) we were productively creative and 3) we enjoyed the community with each other.

Personally, I have neglected my personal projects for a long time so spent some time prior to the crop dusting off some projects. All together I finished 21 pages! The layouts below are from the 2018 Close To My Heart trip to Thailand. Most of these pages are from an album that CTMH gifted to each of us who earned the trip. I had “built” the pages prior to the trip but they have been waiting for photos for over 2 years. I’m so happy to finally have them done!

The last three pages are from a live aboard dive trip to the Similan Islands that Eric and I added on after we said good-bye to our Close To My Heart friends. The pictures on the last layout were taken by fellow diver and photo journalist Lorenzo Moscia who generously shared his gorgeous photos with us.

Other layouts from my Thailand album were posted on August 17, 2018, August 24, 2018, and September 2, 2018. I’ve got a couple more layouts still to go…maybe I’ll get them done during the next virtual crop.

I hope by sharing these layouts, I’ve encouraged you to set aside some time to get away from the day-to-day struggles plus the more-than-normal trials that you may be going through. In addition, to cropping with my team virtually, I have also hosted virtual crops on my “Crafty Friends” facebookgroup for my VIP customers and friends. You are invited to join the funin that group!

Whether with us, other friends or not, I hope you are able to carve out some time to create this weekend. Please share your projects with me! In the comments below, tell me what you are working on. If you can, post a link to photos! Can’t wait to hear all about it.

Have a wonderful (creative) weekend,

Rebecca

New for 2019: Monthly Day Crop!

I’m very excited to announce that in 2019, I’ll be partnering with First Baptist Church in Arnold for their monthly Day Crops and I hope you’ll join me there!

The crops run from 9 am – 5 pm and include a  delicious catered breakfast and lunch. The cropping area is spacious, and you’ll get your own 8-foot table! If you need a break during the day, you can take advantage of the church’s no membership needed gym and walk the indoor track.

Each month, I plan to share a little extra Close To My Heart goodies with attendees. In January, registration includes the cute Ice Cream card and Dinosaur page above! Don’t need a dino page? No problem, I can show you ways to modify it to fit other occasions. (Of course everyone can use an ice cream card — right?)

Registration for the event is through the church and the first date is January 12.

Fall Events: Come get creative with me!

The are is turning cooler and soon the leaves will change color. What does that mean for a crafter? Time to slip into something warm and comfy and start on a new project! If you are in the Arnold/St. Louis area, I have several events scheduled scheduled to help you carve out some fun creative time.

See a complete list of events with times, prices and other details>>

OPEN CROPS

In November, I’ll be having my regular “Finish It Friday” 5 hour crop plus a Saturday Day Crop back to back. This means you can start your projects on Friday and leave everything set up so when you arrive on Saturday morning everything is ready to pick back up! On Saturday I’ll be serving lunch plus have drinks and snacks on hand.

CARD BUFFETS

Want to sent handmade cards this year? Come to one or both of my All You Can Make Card Buffet (Christmas Edition) for a productive night of card-making. On the buffet, you will find a variety of card kits. The papers are pre-cut and accessories are gathered so you can stamp and assemble your cards relatively quickly. Make a variety or multiples of the same one. It’s up to you!

CRAFTY GIRLS NIGHT OUT – JANUARY 10

Our BINGO night in September was so much fun, I’ve decided to host another Girl’s Night out in January. I’m still working on the details, but know that it will be a night filled with fun using brand new 2019 Seasonal Expression 1 products.

You’ll get a copy of the new Idea Book, a goody bag with product samples and 3 projects to create! At the event, you can enjoy a yummy snack, play games and win prizes. In addition, you’ll get exclusive (attendee only) specials and all orders will go toward a Mystery Hostess Gathering. You don’t want to miss this fun night!

You can sign up for all of these events at https://showmescrapping.com/events/. See you there!

DEMO: Signing up for Events using Yapsody

For my local events (workshops, classes & events), I have been using a program called “Yapsody” for a few months. This program allows you to set up an account so that you always know exactly which events you have signed up for. It also helps me know who is signed up, send emails to attendees and print registration lists.

This program if fairly easy to use, but there are a few things that are not completely intuitive. Tonight, I’d like to address some of the issues that have come back since we have started using Yapsody.

Thank you for everyone who has given it a try and provided feedback to me!

Please watch this video to learn more about the registration process.

To get started go to showmescrapping.yapsody.com where you will see a list of all of my upcoming workshops. To view the events on a calendar, click on the square in the top right corner of the screen.

You can use the steps below to sign up for all of the events you’d like to attend on a single order. You can even include registration for friends on your order! I would suggest that you create a Yapsody account so that you can access all of your registrations in the future.

Visit my events page>>

Registering for an event

Step 1:  Click “More Info” next to the first event you are interested in attending to see additional details about the event.

Step 2: Click on “Get Tickets” to see pricing.

Step 3: If you would like to register for additional workshops, click on “Save and Continue Shopping”, otherwise click on “Next Step”.

Step 4: If you have an account and are just signing up for yourself, you do not need to fill in the attendee information page. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Next Step”.  At the bottom of the next page also click “Next Step”. (You do not need to print tickets.)

Step 5: Review the items in your cart and enter promo codes, if applicable. Then scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Checkout”.

Step 6: Click on “Check out with PayPal” and enter your payment information. Note that you do not need a PayPal account! You will be able to check out using a credit card, however I’ll receive the funds through PayPal.

If you have an account, you will be able to log back in later to review your registrations for past or future events.

I hope this demo and tips help you use the Yapsody system. Please continue to give me feedback about how it works for you. I hope to see you at an upcoming event!

Family Reunion

Last weekend, I had a fabulous time at the First Class Scraps crop in Chesterfield, MO. This was their 10th crop and the theme was “Family Reunion”. Throughout the weekend, they touched on each of the 10 prior themes.

Trust me, Mary Jo and Maureen know how to throw a party! Lots of fun games, snacks and, of course, cropping!

Each person who attended got to create the mini-layout below at my Close To My Heart table. It uses Laughing Lola papers and the new exclusive hostess stamps “Family Photo”.

In addition, one lucky winner won this layout using the same paper and stamp set.

First Class Scraps has announced their full 2014 schedule and you can register on their website (www.firstclassscraps.com). Hope to see you there!

Saddle Up & Scrap

Last weekend, I had the privilege of attending the “Saddle Up and Scrap” crop put on by First Class Scraps. Mary Jo and Maureen really carried the Western theme throughout the crop room including Saloon full of snacks, General Store and Watering Hole.

I tried to keep up by making this Dakota layout door prize.

So what did you miss by not being there?

1. Award winning cowboy hats

2. Hay Bale Lassoing

3. A Knot Untying Contest

4. A Stick Pony Race

And of course,

5. Lots of Scrapbooking!

Sound like a fun way to spend a weekend? The next crop is scheduled for October. Go to the First Class Scraps website to learn more.

Keep Creating!
