Last month, we had a record number of people at the crop. Our space is not as large for March and we expect to fill up. Be sure to sign up right away if you plan to attend.

Each month, I design a layout that uses fresh new techniques and new products from Close To My Heart to share with the attendees. This month’s layout uses the Life’s a Hoot paper collection, shiny gold foil paper and stencils

For this layout, you’ll sponge ink to make these add blended purpose butterflies using a stencil from the Slimline Card Front Stencil Pack 2 (Z6096). You’ll also learn how to use your ink pads to add random splatters to your pages. Each attendee will receive the left page of the layout shown just for coming to the crop. You will have the opportunity to upgrade your kit by purchasing the companion right page.

All materials needed to make the layout is included in the kit. Ink pads and other tools required to complete will be available for your use at the crop. Just bring your favorite adhesives to assemble. Gather up a few of your favorite photos to complete your layout at the crop or have it ready for future memories.

I hope to see you at the crop!

Announcing the May 2021 Album Retreat Theme: “My 5 Senses”

The theme for the May 2021 Album Retreat has been announced: “My 5 Senses”! All of the layouts in this 22 page kit will be centered around things that we see, hear, smell, taste, and feel. These pages include papers and stamps from the yet-to-be released May – June catalog plus lots of fun techniques and interactive details. This is going to be such a fun book to make!

What is an Album Retreat?

For years, Close To My Heart has sponsored “Album Retreats” for consultants to make an album that features all new products and lots of techniques. It was a way for use to learn and be equipped to teach our customers. Because of the pandemic, in 2020 CTMH started offering these retreats virtually and since they were no longer bound to the space in a meeting room, these amazing events were opened up and are no longer “consultant -only”.

This year’s virtual Album Retreat will be held on May 14 – 15 in a private Facebook. During those two days, instructors will walk your through each step in the process to make these beautiful pages. If you cannot make it to all of the sessions live, that’s ok because the group will remain available for you to watch them afterwards.

How can I be part of this?

To participate in this event, simply purchase the album bundle (EB20214)—there is no separate registration fee! Your kit will include all of the base and cut papers needed for the pages. You’ll also get stamp sets and thin cuts needed to make these elaborate decorative pages. As we get closer to the event, Close To My Heart will send an email to everyone who has purchased the bundle with an invitation to join a private Facebook group where the event will be held. A list of additional materials needed to complete the project will be added in the coming days.

Closer Look at the Projects

More Virtual Crafting Coming in 2021

One of my 2021 resolutions is to make more time to create. Growing up, I was always making things. As an adult, I’ve learned that when I start feeling my stress level going up it usually means I have not had a creative fix for too long. A saying that resonates with me is “Scrapbooking is better than therapy”. I’d take that even farther and say that for me “Scrapbooking IS therapy!”.

The best way to accomplish my goal of creating more is to put it on the calendar! In addition to marking time off on my personal calendar, I’m committing to a few events during 2021 that will force me to slow down and create.

If you are like me and looking for events to crafting in the new years, I’d like to invite you to join in and create during the Close To My Heart Facebook Live crafting events! Whether you order supplies and create along with the presenters or work on your own projects while you watch, you will enjoy these presentations and probably pick up a few tips along the way. Here is a list of the events for January and February:

  • Tuesday, January 5, 2:00 pm (MST): Serenity Cardmaking Workshop (G1220)
  • Tuesday, January 26, 2:00 pm (MST): Serenity Scrapbooking Workshop (G1218)
  • Wednesday, Thursday, February 3-4, 3:00 pm (MST): Perfect Match Workshop (CC122013)
  • Tuesday, February 9, 2:00 pm (MST): Happiness Lives Here Cardmaking Workshop (G1222)
  • Tuesday, February 16, 2:00 pm (MST): Happiness Lives Here Scrapbooking Workshop (G1221)
  • Thursday, February 25, 2:00 pm (MST): VIP Customer We Are Good Together Workshop (VIP102)

To fully participate in these exciting events, make sure to order the bundles listed with the event. All of these can be found on my Close To My Heart website. Simply type the item number into the search bar. Be sure to make note of the additional supplies needed and add anything you are missing to your order.

Close To My Heart will also be doing some awesome giveaways during these events, so be sure to visit the Close To My Heart (Official) Facebook page, click on the Events tab, and mark yourself as “Going” so you can be entered to win! We can’t wait to connect and craft with you!

Please let me know if you have questions about any of these events or the projects.
