I Love You BERRY Much (free card kit with purchase)

I’m not quite ready for fall and this card let me hang onto a bit more summer. Strawberry season may be over, but anytime is the right time for a cheerful card like this one. The fresh color combination was made using distressed oxide ink and the August Stamp of the Month, Tutti Fruitti Summer.

This stamp set is filled with fruits and fun summer sentiments which beg for bright colored projects. The scale is nice for both cards and layouts (see a sample layout at the bottom of this post). Whether you want to send a fun cheerful greeting or have memories from the last few months to scrapbook, this stamp set gives you lots of fun designs to use on your projects.

To make this card, I started by sponging the base with Distress Oxide Ink. I used both Peeled Paint and Mowed Lawn to get a nice blended background. Then to add more texture, I splattered it with water by tapping my waterbrush on my finger. Because distress oxide ink is a blend of pigment and dye ink, it reacts to the water creating the fun detail you can see in this photo.

After the background dried, I stamped the sentiments with Archival Black ink to get the deepest black possible. The border at the top of the card is made from Candy Apple cardstock with the strawberry seed background stamped also stamped in Archival black ink.

To make the berry basket, I cut Kraft paper using the versatile Window Thin Cut set. I used the wide “transom” window die and layered it over an uncut piece of kraft paper.

You may notice from the stamp images that the strawberry and stems are on the same stamp. Once again, I CUT MY STAMP so that I could stamp these two images separately. The berries were stamped with Candied Apple Distress Oxide and the stems with Mowed Lawn. I love the soft look of the distress oxide ink.

To minimize the amount of fussy cutting, I stamped a row of berries a little wider than the “basket” and cut them out together. Then I stamped and cut a few individual berries and popped them up on top of them and for the “O” in YOU.
