January is National Papercrafting Month! We know that not every paper crafter is a scrapbooker or card maker, so this month’s exclusive project is a beautiful home décor piece.
You can make one for your home or to give as a gift with the Home Sweet Home Frame Kit .This papercrafting project allows you to decorate a wood frame with a wooden “Home” sentiment and a variety of interchangeable accent pieces for every season and holiday. The finished piece is sturdy due to a wood frame base and other pieces. Decorative papers and Glitter accents makes it colorful and sparkly!
The kit includes a large wooden frame designed to fit a large wooden piece that spells out “HOME” and comes with materials to create a wide variety of accent pieces to fit over the “O”. The frame is 13.5″ square with an opening just under 12″ which happens to be the the perfect size for scrapbook paper! You may want to grab an extra one or two to frame your favorite layouts. You also get 14 extra wood circles that you can decorate and swap out as the year goes by. All of the wood pieces are unfinished and ready for you to cover, paint of stain.
The Home Sweet Home Papers & Die-cut pack includes a selection of embellished die-cut paper to make a decorative 3D images that fit perfectly on the wood circle to for the “O” in HOME. Some of the die-cuts are glitter paper which adds a festive sparkle to the icons. In the kit you get everything you need to make all of the designs on the top row of the image below: Hearts, watermelon, pumpkin, rainbow, birthday, firework, spring flowers, umbrella and wreath. You also get supplies to make EITHER sunflowers or Apple, Haunted House or Beach Christmas, Snowflake or Champagne and Sunset or Surfboard (although for that one I combined both in the same circle!). Finally, you get icons for a variety of sports and 4 blue circles so you can choose your families favorites to celebrate.
Assembling the kit is quick and easy due to the printed, die-cut pieces. While the basic paper pieces can be assembled using any permanent paper crafting adhesive, I recommend Liquid Glass for the 3D shapes. attaching them to the wood pieces and magnets and to assemble the frame to make sure that everything stays put.
Although you could choose to keep the frame natural or get creative with paint or stain, the kit includes 2 double sided pieces of 12×12 decorative paper that you can use for the background of your frame. You also get 4 die-cut outer frame pieces with one side to make a brown stained wood frame and the other for a black frame with a white scroll pattern. The photos below show the two frame covers and a couple of the background patterns that come in the kit.
I had so much fun finishing this project. The die-cuts punched apart cleaning and the assembly was simple thinks in part to a full color instructional brochure.
