As it gets cooler outside, I know it won’t be long before winter weather is here. On those days, I enjoy viewing the beautiful snowy scenes from inside my cozy home. When I made this card, I pictured myself cuddled up with my favorite robe and slippers while watching the snow flutter to the ground.
I love making shaker windows and even though we have die cuts and kits to make circle, square, rectangle, heart and start shakers with pre-cut foam, I created this one with 3D foam tape. I started with a 3″x3″ piece of white cardstock and added dimension with the Cascading Dots embossing folder. On the outer edges, I put a strip of the narrow foam tape on all 4 sides. After adding a few silver sequins, I sealed it with a 3″ x 3″ piece cut of clear film from a Flip Flap. The top frame is cut from Clover Cardstock using the Window Thin Cut set.
All of the stamps used on this card are from the November Stamp of the Month, You Warm My Heart. The first thing I stamped is the 1/4″ wide white strip on the left side of the card with the plus sign border in Flamingo ink.
The flowers and sentiment are both stamped with Intense Black ink. I colored the flowers and highlighted the word cozy using Clover, Flamingo and Raspberry ink pads. To do this, first squeeze the closed ink pad to get a little ink to transfer into the lid. Then pick it up with a wet brush — I used our small waterbrush — and paint. I love how this simple technique gives a watercolor look that perfectly matches the colors in the Close To My Heart palette.
